It was opened in a provisional building in 1949. The Kon-Tiki Museum is located on the Bygdøy peninsula. You can get there by ferry or by bus. Of course the ferry is nicer, at least on a sunny day. As the name suggests, the museum houses the balsa The Kon-Tiki Museum is located in the Bygdøy peninsula.
